President Kikwete said this on Thursday when addressing a public rally at Arumeru District, Arusha Region, when inaugurating Olturumet Government Hospital. He adviced the public to avoid being used as conveyer belts of other individuals in the ongoing constitution process review.

On the constitution review process, President Kikwete asked the public to be free and air their views before the Constitution Committee.“I would like to urge you to be free to air your views…do not accept to be used by other people. Stop being cassettes and gramophones of airing and marketing other people’s views,” he said, adding that a good constitutions will be made if everyone gives his/her views freely.

He told the public that the religious riots that occurred recently was embarrassing and disgusting.“What happened and continue to happen are signs of mayhem that are very embarrassing and disgusting to our country. There are people being used to violate the country’s peace because not everyone is happy with the prevailing peace and harmony,” he said.

He, however, assured that the government was vigilant to ensure that no individual or group of people would be allowed to disrupt peace in the country.

The President was on a two-day official tour at Arusha to check progress of development projects in the region.
